‌“Unfit” is a term used by the Ministry of Transportation and refers to vehicles that require a safety standard certification (“SSC” or “certification”) for driving. “As-is” is a term used in the MVDA and has an overlapping meaning with “unfit” vehicles. These vehicles generally require repairs, inspection, and certification. In both instances, a purchaser will have to incur additional costs to ensure that the vehicle is roadworthy. To comply with the all-in pricing rules, advertising of such vehicles requires the inclusion of special disclosure statements.
